The Parking Oscar 2025 – European Parking Association Awards

The Regional Development Agency of the Ljubljana Urban Region (RRA LUR), in a consortium with the Urban Planning Institute of Ljubljana (LUZ) and the Institute for Spatial Policies (IPoP), received the prestigious EPA Awards, presented by the European Parking Association (EPA). The award, often referred to as the “Parking Oscar”, was granted in recognition of an outstanding contribution to the development of modern, sustainable, and strategically oriented solutions in the field of parking.

The award was given for the project Slovenian National Parking Guidelines, which represent a comprehensive and forward-looking approach to parking management in cities and regions. The guidelines address parking not merely as an infrastructure issue, but as an important tool for achieving sustainable mobility goals, improving the quality of urban space, reducing private car use, and supporting cities’ adaptation to climate change.

The guidelines were developed by a consortium of expert institutions, with RRA LUR contributing primarily its expertise in integrated transport planning, regional development, and the alignment of mobility policies with spatial development. A key added value of the project lies in its strong connection between local, regional, and national levels, as well as in the transfer of European best practices into the Slovenian context.

In its justification, the EPA jury highlighted that the awarded project stands out for its clear vision, practical usefulness for decision-makers and professional audiences, and for placing parking policy at the very heart of discussions about the future of cities. The award thus confirms that Slovenian approaches can also serve as an example of good practice at the European level.

For RRA LUR, this recognition represents an important confirmation of its long-standing work in the field of sustainable mobility and integrated development of the Ljubljana Urban Region, as well as an additional motivation to continue co-creating solutions that contribute to a higher-quality, more accessible, and sustainably oriented living environment.
