Open innovation workshop with presentation of innovative solutions for the use of paper in interior design
At the end of January 2019 an open innovation workshop including a presentation of innovative solutions for the use of paper in interior design took place at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design (ALUO) in Ljubljana. The workshop was attended by first-year master’s students from the industrial design programme, together with mentors, and representatives of DS Smith Slovenia d.o.o., the Pulp and Paper Institute and RRA LUR.
Following an address by Jure Miklavc (ALUO) and Matej Gojčič (RRA LUR), the students presented various paper interior design elements which they had developed under the mentorship of professors Jure Miklavc, Barbara Predan, Rok Kuhar and Lidija Pritržnik. The presentation was followed by a discussion on open innovation, where participants emphasised the importance of introducing this concept and the transition to a circular economy for ensuring the efficiency and competitiveness of businesses in the future.
The open innovation process and presentation of solutions are part of the pilot project “Establishment of an interdisciplinary supply chain for paper furniture”, which is taking place within the EU project InnoRenew CoE, under the Horizon 2020 programme.
