Regional Development Agency of the Ljubljana Urban Region Receives the 2026 City of Ljubljana Award
At the ceremonial event marking the City of Ljubljana Day at Ljubljana Castle, the Regional Development Agency of the Ljubljana Urban Region (RRA LUR) received the prestigious City of Ljubljana Award 2026. The award was presented to the Agency’s Director, Lilijana Madjar, MSc, by the Mayor of Ljubljana, Zoran Janković, and Nada Verbič, Chair of the Awards Committee of the Ljubljana City Council.

The City of Ljubljana Award is one of the city’s highest honours. It is presented to individuals and organisations whose work makes an outstanding contribution to Ljubljana’s development, international recognition and quality of life.
Over the past 25 years, RRA LUR has become one of the key drivers of development in the Ljubljana Urban Region and a trusted partner of municipalities, the national government, businesses and European institutions. By promoting a shared vision of development beyond municipal boundaries, the Agency connects the region’s 25 municipalities and fosters its sustainable and balanced development.
The Agency brings modern development practices to the region and supports the successful absorption of European funding for the implementation of strategic development objectives defined in key regional planning documents. Through numerous projects and initiatives in sustainable mobility, regional development, entrepreneurship, spatial planning, energy, the circular economy and European cooperation, it helps develop solutions that improve the quality of life of the region’s residents.
The City of Ljubljana Award is a great honour for RDA LUR. We see it as an important recognition of the Agency’s long-standing professional, developmental and coordinating work, as well as of all our colleagues, municipal representatives and development partners who together are shaping the future of the Ljubljana Urban Region, creating a higher quality of life and better opportunities for future generations.
