RRA LUR launching the ECOLE circular economy project in Verona with 11 partners
On 24 and 25 January 2023, the partners of the project ECOLE – ECO industrial park network for the Alpine Regions Leveraging smart and Circular Economy, co-funded by the European Union through the Interreg Alpine Region programme, held a kick-off meeting in Verona at the headquarters of the ZAI – Interporto Quadrante Europa consortium. The Regional Development Agency of the Ljubljana Urban Region (RRA LUR), together with 11 partner organisations from 5 countries (next to Slovenia Italy, Austria, Germany and France) were actively coordinating the plans and first steps of the project, which will end in October 2025.
The ECOLE project focuses on industrial parks, which generally face challenges such as rising energy costs, their image of polluters and the lack of knowledge about circular economy principles and their implementation. The ECOLE project aims to accelerate the transition towards circular and resource-efficient industry. To achieve these goals, the project will establish a model of systemic thinking communities, form recommendations for policy makers and develop a set of tools and action plans to integrate the circular economy into local industrial areas. The project will involve 10 industrial parks across five countries, including two industrial zones in Slovenia.
The ECOLE project will contribute to transforming industrial zones in the Alpine region into more circular, resilient and sustainable entities that are better prepared to face climate and economic crises.
