On the Digitalization of Tourism and Tourism Products in Slovenia – futre trands and challenges, 2nd meeting of the TAAS project partners

  • 5. 2. 2025

In the Red Hall of the City Municipality of Ljubljana, the Regional Development Agency of the Ljubljana Urban Region (RRA LUR) hosted the TAAS project partners from eight EU countries in the second half of January. During the second joint meeting, they explored various best practices in the digitalization of tourism and tourism products, discussed the next steps of the project, and reviewed specific communication activities.

As part of a study visit, they also had the opportunity to explore Ljubljana through the lens of sustainable mobility, visit the offices of Tourism Ljubljana, and learn about the specifics of Landscape Park Polhograjski Dolomiti.

Slovenia, as a green destination, prides itself on numerous sustainability-driven concepts in tourism, mobility, circular economy, and beyond. In the capital, visitors were particularly impressed by: the vast open spaces dedicated exclusively to pedestrians, cyclists, tourists, and various social events; the BicikeLJ and Nomago Bikes rental systems; parking arrangements; and the waste separation system, which, with the help of new technologies, enables residents to pay for waste collection, processing, and disposal based on the actual amount of waste generated.

The team at Tourism Ljubljana provided a comprehensive presentation of statistical data on tourist visits to Ljubljana and the region, including visitor demographics and the ways in which advanced technologies help attract new, specifically targeted guests to Slovenia.

As part of the study visit, participants also explored a section of the Polhograjski Dolomiti Landscape Park, which RRA LUR is addressing in more detail within a project. In the green and water-rich town of Medvode, they symbolically reached the peak of Triglav by stepping into the home of Jakob Aljaž and then embarked on an experiential hiking trail within the Polhograjski Dolomiti.
