Ljubljana Urban Region joins REGHUB – the new generation of the EU’s Regional Hubs Network

  • 30. 9. 2025

Ljubljana urban region has been selected to become a member of RegHub. The high number of applications for RegHub – among which only few were selected – confirms the EU-wide interest of regional and local authorities in the project. It can be considered a decisive vote of confidence in the network’s future. RegHub is a central element of the European Committee of the Regions’ (CoR) active subsidiarity strategy. The Ljubljana Urban Region selection marks the start of what it’s consider to be a key partnership for the CoR.

New phase launched in Brussels

To mark the launch of the latest phase of the Regional Hubs Network (RegHub), the new Hubs gathered at the European Committee of the Regions for an inaugural workshop on 26 September. The workshop was also attended by RRA LUR’s representative, Head of International Cooperation, Ms Tina Pezdirc Nograšek.

In the morning session, participants discussed the network’s role and day-to-day activities, including a detailed exchange on the evaluation of the Public Procurement Directives with Roberto Gualtieri (IT/PES), Mayor of Rome, and Valentina Schaumburger, Member of Cabinet of Executive Vice-President Sébastien Séjourné. This was followed by a broader debate on RegHub’s place in the EU’s simplification and implementation agenda with Dorota Denning, Member of Cabinet of Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis, and Jelena Drenjanin (SE/EPP), member of Huddinge Municipality Council.

The event concluded with forward-looking sessions on upcoming consultations and the practicalities of membership in the network.
