Programme:
Financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the German Association for International Cooperation (GIZ GmbH) – Regional Fund for SE Europe and the European Union
Purpose and goal of the project:
Despite many efforts the car remains the dominant means of transport throughout the area of SE Europe and development of road infrastructure is still prioritised in urban planning. The purpose of the ProSUMP project is to transfer knowledge and good practices of planning to the cities of the Western Balkans amd introduce modern urban mobility. As part of the project, 18 cities in 6 countries, including Belgrade, Pristina, Podgorica, Sarajevo, Skopje and Tirana will develop a concept for setting up an organizational structure for the systematic implementation of urban mobility plans. Among the EU countries, RRA LUR was selected as a central example of good practice, and was assigned the role of a mobility hub and coordinator of promotional activities in the SE region. Through the acquisition of new skills, the presentation of successful practices and an action plan, which will include a draft document for the introduction of an urban mobility officer, local and regional administrations will be able to confidently deal with mobility issues.
Expected project results:
- Transfer of knowledge and presentation of good practices within the EU with LUR set as an expemplary case.
- Preparation of an action plan of activities for regional and local authorities (in cooperation with CIVINET Slovenia-Croatia-SE).
- Concept development for setting up an organizational structure for the systematic implementation of urban mobility plans in 18 participating cities of the Western Balkans, including Belgrade, Pristina, Podgorica, Sarajevo, Skopje and Tirana.
