DIVERSE Project Partners Meet in Legnaro, Italy to Advance Bioenergy Innovation
On May 20–21, 2025, partners of the Interreg Alpine Space DIVERSE project convened in Legnaro (PD), Italy, for a two-day project meeting and field visit hosted by AVISP (Venetian Agency for the Innovation of the Primary Sector). The gathering marked a key moment for reviewing progress and fostering collaboration on biodiversity-friendly bioenergy solutions.
The first day featured intensive working sessions focused on the progress of key work packages (WP1–WP3). Partners shared updates on stakeholder engagement, short-list indicators, and the development of pilot implementation plans.
On the second day, the agenda included communication and management updates, followed by a visit to the Vallevecchia Pilot Farm in Caorle (VE). There, partners explored long-term experimental activities on the use of biogas digestate as a soil conditioner in combination with wood chips from agroforestry pruning. Field demonstrations illustrated innovative methodologies such as the MERCI method, Qbs-ar index for soil biodiversity, and the Slake test for structural stability—all part of the Open Farm Protocol.
The visit also highlighted the farm’s sustainable heating/cooling system powered by local wood biomass, offering a practical example of circular economy in agriculture.
The Legnaro meeting strengthened technical coordination and reinforced the shared commitment to environmentally responsible bioenergy in the Alpine Space.
