CulturalRoad Kick-Off Meeting in Brussels
Last week, we participated in the two-day kick-off meeting of the CulturalRoad project in Brussels, funded by the Horizon Europe programme. Bringing together 18 partners from ten European countries, the project will run until April 2027, aiming to develop new guidelines for a fairer deployment of Cooperative, Connected, and Automated Mobility (CCAM).
CulturalRoad focuses on integrating cultural and geographical diversity into mobility planning, as the successful implementation of CCAM relies on ensuring accessibility, safety, and acceptance among all social groups. The project will develop methodologies and tools for tailored CCAM deployment strategies, with strong involvement from local communities.
During the meeting in Brussels, we discussed key challenges and the first steps of the project with our partners. We agreed on the approach for analyzing existing mobility systems and developing a Five-Pointed Star Rating System, which will assess mobility equity based on safety, inclusivity, user acceptance, infrastructure readiness, and psychological factors influencing usage.
The project will test its solutions in several pilot locations, including Ljubljana. The results will contribute to the development of deployment guidelines for CCAM across Europe. Brussels provided the perfect starting point for this important journey towards a fairer and more sustainable mobility future.
