MUSE: Cross-border collaboration for sustainable and energy efficient University mobility


INTERREG V-A Italy-Slovenia 2014-2020

Purpose and goal of the project:

The MUSE project aims to integrate energy efficiency and a reduction of CO2 emissions within the urban and extra-urban communities of cross-border local authorities. The purpose of the project is:

  • Increasing the competencies of public administrations for the integration of energy efficiency within their sustainable mobility planning process,
  • Strengthening cross-border cooperation within public administrations with the support of Research Centres, Universities and operators in the sector,
  • Promoting innovative low-carbon mobility services by involving students and university employees in pilot actions. Pilot measures consist of shared mobility services (e.g. e-bike and e-car sharing), with recharging points powered by renewable sources, and an information system for the management and monitoring of the charging points and mobility services.

Expected project results:

Analysis of the situation in the field of sustainable mobility;

Guidelines and strategies for the implementation of measures that will promote CO2 reduction in the context of mobility and will be useful in the preparation of integrated transport strategies and sustainable energy action plans;

The Action plan will enable public administrations to implement strategies in the field of student mobility in the cross-border area;

Establish a cross-border community involving partners, associate partners and other stakeholders;

Implementation of five pilots and testing energy efficient mobility solutions involving the use of electric vehicles inserted within a micro-grid logic, the production of energy using renewable sources, and the use of smart systems for monitoring and managing the mobility services themselves, with the support of ICT. The cross-border community will contribute to the promotion of these services and the results of pilot actions through its network.

As part of the project, the Regional Development Agency of the Ljubljana Urban Region is working on a model of a secured e-bike garage with solar panels on the roof. Secure e-bike garage is in Grosuplje.

Budget of the RrA LUR project: EUR 227.300,00
