RRA LUR at the SCALE-UP Final Conference in Brussels: Shaping the Future of Sustainable Mobility

  • 4. 4. 2025

The Regional Development Agency of the Ljubljana Urban Region (RRA LUR) attended the final conference of the European project SCALE-UP in Brussels on April 1 and 2. In addition to project partners, the event also brought together experts and decision-makers in the field of sustainable mobility. As a learning region, RRA LUR actively contributed to finding innovative solutions for the future of urban transport and logistics within the SCALE-UP project.

The first day of the conference focused on addressing complex challenges in governing urban mobility through the lens of functional urban areas and nodes. Discussions revolved around defining priorities for sustainable urban mobility and logistics, identifying current gaps and future needs, and exploring strategies for the development and implementation of multimodal hubs. Strengthening networks of connected cities and functional urban areas was a key theme, highlighting the importance of collaboration in achieving efficient and sustainable transport solutions.

The second day of the conference delved into the next steps towards establishing cities as green and connected nodes for urban mobility. Special attention was given to public-private partnerships, digitalization, and behavioural changes in mobility users. Key topics also included the innovation capacity of local authorities and successful pilot projects conducted in over ten European cities.

The conference was held as part of a joint event with MOVE21, with both projects under Horizon 2020 promoting innovative solutions for sustainable urban transport across Europe. This two-day event provided a unique platform for sharing best practices, unlocking new collaboration opportunities, and shaping the future of urban mobility hubs.
